The illustration of "Our region & Community"¡G¡@
¡@Liu Ting-Tsuan built up his own slogan- Hualien Stones, Miaoli Woods, Taipei Potters, and Kaohsiung Steels. People in Taiwan know that stone carving is famous in Hualien; and wood carving is famous in Miaoli. As Liu Ting-Tsuan thought, steel can be considered a local symbol of Kaohsiung. He chose steels to be his material and then combines his creation, and imagination to create lifelike and wonderful works.

The summary of this research report¡G
¡@Liu Ting-Tsuan, a steel sculptor with a machinist background, loves art very much; by virtue of his love of Kaohsiung City, he uses steels to promote its great vitality. Not only did he use steels to work, he also used motorcycle component to create recycled works with a life like appearance. Wearing a white-shirt, black pants and a glittery leather shoe, Liu Ting-Tsuan is filled with self-confidence, and has an optimistic attitude to stride toward his goals.

Our surrounding of Internet¡G
¡@At school, we adopt the fiberoptic cable as main structure to connect with the computer center in our school, and then connect with TANet (Taiwan Academic Network) through T1 LAN line. At home, we use ADSL to upload, and to look up some information.

The difficulties of we faced¡G
1. The pressure from the schoolwork and exams.
¡@We had to conduct our web pages and deal with schoolwork at the same time. Besides, we also had an important computer exam. Some teammates even had to stay for honor guard practice after school. There were too many things that needed to be done at that time. We spent a lot of time and energy. Thank to the encouragement and instruction from our teachers, we finally finished the research.
2. Time arrangement.
¡@In order to completely understand Liu Ting-Tsuan, we did a lot of works on the interviews. In total we interviewed with him 9 times. In the beginning, we even followed Liu Ting-Tsuan on his whole journey. We spent more than half of a day on every interview. Because we took scenes in rotating displays, we had to go to Liu Ting-Tsuan's studio. Liu Ting-Tsuan was busy so we needed to operate in coordination with him. In the process of taking scenes, we had many troubles. For example:
¡@¡@(1) We needed to adjust the light of the background
¡@¡@(2) We needed to photograph 12 angles of every work for combinning them to make rotating
¡@¡@¡@¡@displays
¡@¡@(3) The difficulties of editing the scenes. However, we overcame all of the difficulties, and did ¡@¡@
¡@¡@¡@a good job on the project.
3. Learning, gaining, and growing.
(1) We spent a long time creating. Each work of the rotating displays has twelve pictures. On the ¡@
¡@day of shooting, we even had trouble being on exposed to the intense heat of the afternoon sun and the
¡@background was blown by strong winds. As a result, we needed more time to edit. In addition, the
¡@background of the three works of "Take a guess" is complex. In order to revise those backgrounds,
¡@we spent a half hour on every picture. It took so long, we all felt so exhausted. When we uploaded all
¡@of those works into our web pages, we felt so cheerful. Our efforts have a nice expression, even better
¡@than what we expected. We felt it was worth spending so much time on this research.
(2) We also paid attention to the article arrangement. We put all the interviews in order and tried to ¡@
¡@express all of Liu Ting-Tsuan's thoughts and ideas. We spent a lot of time on it, so we had many
¡@substantial web pages.¡@¡@¡@
(3) We considered visual effect and convenient operation on the web designing. Although it was ¡@
¡@difficult and complex to arrange all the pages, art icicles, and pictures, we still overcame all the
¡@difficulties with cooperation. From this research, we gained a greater appreciation for and
¡@understanding of art. At the same time, we also gained precious insight into our own goals.

Feedback:
¡@¡@We learned a lot from Liu Ting-Tusan. Because of his insistence, firmness, and passion for his work, he isn't afraid of difficulties and pursues his goals. However, while having problems, we young people may just give up and abandon them. Also, we felt touched by his words "People who persist until to the end can be successful," and "Your life can be meaningful if you set a goal and pursue it." Therefore, from this competition we learned many sculpture skills, but also experienced lots of difficulties we never had before. Finally, we did it. We did try our best to overcome them. Those experiences were unforgettable for us.

Q&A

1. How much knowledge did you get from this project? Was it good for your school's educational programs and curriculum?
¡@(a) The sketch competition¡G
¡@¡@The school borrowed three works from Liu Ting-Tusan. For the sketch competition, students could ¡@¡@sketch them in the sketch class. Also, teachers took Liu Ting-Tusan as an example. They wanted ¡@¡@students to understand the key points to being successful are to be optimistic and overcome ¡@¡@¡@¡@difficulties.

¡@(b) The exhibition of steel sculpture on campus:
¡@¡@For advocating the general education on campus in December, the school held a steel sculpture ¡@¡@¡@exhibition, made by Liu Ting-Tusan. Therefore, we took the steel sculpture into the campus so the ¡@¡@faculty and students would have an opportunity to see it To advocate the general education, we ¡@¡@¡@invited Mr. Liu Ting-Tusan and many commissioners to join us. He said "Although it's very hard ¡@¡@to be successful at the beginning, your dream will come true if you persist. Even if you'll feel pain ¡@¡@in the process, you'll see it's worth some day." Those words touched us very much, and also gave ¡@¡@us power to go forward to our dreams.

¡@(c) The demonstration of the works:
¡@¡@While displaying the steel sculpture on campus, Mr. Liu Ting-Tusan explained what inspired him ¡@¡@to make it. We all listened carefully and felt amazed. At the same time, we not only got closer to ¡@¡@¡@the works, but gained knowledge about steel sculpture from him. Consequently, after his ¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@demonstration and experience-sharing, we learned a lot about what kind of art it is and how to ¡@¡@¡@grow into a successful person.

¡@
(d) The interaction with the faculty and the students on campus:
¡@¡@There were few students who touched the art on campus. By this exhibition, we not only could get ¡@¡@closer to the art, but also find how beautiful it is. We felt amazed how he created such real and vital ¡@¡@works with the recycled iron and steel. Because of this exhibition, the arts could go into the campus ¡@¡@and be much closer to the faculty and the students. From this, more people could discover the ¡@¡@¡@beauty of the arts.

¡@(e) Questionnaire:
¡@¡@We made a questionnaire aimed at the effects of steel sculpture on the faculty and students in SHU-¡@¡@TE High School. The results revealed that the exhibition of the steel sculpture impressed them most ¡@¡@deeply. Also, the school can hold another wonderful exhibition on campus in the future. ¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@¡@Consequently, the questionnaire shows that the exhibition got lots of recognition and participation ¡@¡@in SHU-TE High School.

(5) How did you specify the concepts?
¡@¡@It was necessary to make efforts in order to be successful. Take Liu Ting-Tusan as an example, he suffered the dilemma of disobeying his family or losing his dream. However, through his enthusiasm of art, he made it! There is a Chinese proverb saying that he who takes pains will get somewhere. Liu Ting-Tusan is a model for us to follow.

(6) Describe the World Intellectual Property of the project?
¡@¡@Since we did not know the sculptor, Liu Ting-Tusan, we tried to look up the information in newspapers and on the internet. The internet was very practical. We designed all the pages, features and words without copying others.

(7) Discoveries, experiences and surprises!
¡@¡@Through this project, we admired the beauty of art. There were several setbacks, but we did not feel disappointed but determined.
